# Mastercard Installments Services

Mastercard Installments Services solution enables Issuers to present installments offers to their cardholders with an existing line of credit during checkout or post the purchase.
The APIs enable the distribution of installments offers during checkout through various distribution partners such as wallets, merchants or PSPs, browsers, and Gateway, to name a few. They also enable the availability of the offers post-purchase through the issuer's website or app.

## Post Purchase {#post-purchase}

Mastercard Installments Services enables Issuers to offer their cardholders a choice to convert eligible purchases into installments either immediately post purchase (near-real time), or in the account statement.

## How it works {#how-it-works}

Diagram post-purchase-hiw Note: Depending on when the consumer accepts installments, the handling is as follows:  
• Pre-Clearing: Posts first installment  
• Post Clearing: Reverse the full amount first and then post the first installment

Mastercard Installments Services enables Issuers to present offers to pay in installments to their existing cardholders during checkout.
