## Mastercard Installments Credential {#mastercard-installments-credential}

The Mastercard Installments Credential is an innovative program that allows an issuing bank, a fintech company, a buy-now-pay-later player, or a wallet to offer installments experiences at scale with merchants across the Mastercard acceptance network. This new Mastercard Installments Credential provides consumers with a flexible, widely available way to pay online and in stores through equal installments, without the need for debit, credit, or prepaid cards, across Mastercard's vast global acceptance network.
1. For all the merchants identified by MAID (Mastercard assigned merchant identifier) or MID (Acquirer assigned merchant identifier), who participate or do not participate in the Mastercard Installments Credential, the list of the merchant identifiers along with merchant details, who are participating/non-participating with the installments data, will be collected through an API (directly through this API or Qualtrics upload that will in-turn be submitted by Mastercard installments product operations team)
2. The merchant participation (be it MAID / MID merchants) by territory can be inferred by IPP / Acquirer respectively.
3. Detailed status of all participating and non-participation merchant data for both MID / MAID merchants is also available to the acquirer, who has submitted the info.
4. IPP will be able to search by merchant and infer current state participation status with mastercard installments, also will have the ability to pull a full list of participating and non-participating merchant info with installments by country both MID and MAID merchants.
Installments plan API is to be used by an IPP during the transaction flow to retrieve details of the consumer selected offer. In addition to the offer details, transaction details, consumer details as well as merchant details can be retrieved through this API. Installments Approval API is to be used by an IPP to approve/decline the consumer's loan application. This API triggers the merchant checkout flow. You can use the Mastercard Installments Credential APIs by gaining access to the Mastercard Developers project and onboarding keys and passing the required information as detailed in the [API reference](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/documentation/api-reference/apis/index.md#apis) section. The request and response are discussed in the [Tutorials and Guides](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/documentation/tutorials-and-guides/index.md) section. You can test the Mastercard Installments Credential APIs in the Sandbox environment. To test the API, the following are the prerequisites:

* The issuer/IPP (or) acquirer must have created a project for the Mastercard Installments Credential APIs.
* The issuer/IPP (or) acquirer must have downloaded the encryption and signing keys.
* The issuer/IPP (or) acquirer must have access to the Sandbox environment. Refer to the [Tutorials and Guides](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/documentation/tutorials-and-guides/index.md) section for the step-by-step process.

Tip: To create your project on [Mastercard Developers](https://developer.mastercard.com/), refer to the [Before you Start](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/documentation/index.md#before-you-start) section for more information. Mastercard takes the utmost care while handling sensitive and private consumer data. The same care has been taken for the Mastercard Installments Credential APIs implementation as well.
The Global Installments is PCI DSS certified. You can rest assured that your data is handled securely. The APIs are free to use in the Sandbox environment with test data. Do all your testing in the Sandbox environment and make sure that it meets your expectations.

Refer [Move Project to Production](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/tutorial/production-access/index.md) when you are ready to move to the Production environment. The Mastercard Customer Implementation Services (CIS) may charge for creating the new implementation project.

For any questions, please contact the Mastercard representative. If you do not have a Mastercard representative, please contact [installments.devzone.product@mastercard.com](mailto:installments.devzone.product@mastercard.com), which has an SLA for 3-5 business days.
The prepaid installments product codes will allow issuers in the potential United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the ability to provide prepaid installments payment products to consumers within these two countries.

## Mastercard Installments Services {#mastercard-installments-services}

Refer to the [Tutorials and Guides](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/documentation/tutorials-and-guides/index.md) page for detailed guidance on each of the three phases of integration, such as **Create a Sandbox Project** , **Integration and Testing** , and **Move Project to Production**. Once you are done with the [Create a Sandbox project](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/tutorial/create-project/index.md) and [Integration and Testing](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/tutorial/integration-and-testing/index.md) steps successfully, you are ready to test the APIs. To speed up testing, Mastercard has preloaded certain test data, using which customers can obtain a valid response from APIs, which would be helpful to improve understanding of APIs. Refer to the Testing page to understand the detailed test scenarios, which can be executed readily in the Sandbox environment without any additional configuration needed. Yes, the API endpoints use encryption to protect sensitive data and the same has been indicated in the [API specification](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/documentation/api-reference/apis/index.md#apis). The API specification has been described in the plain unencrypted format as per Mastercard standards, with details of fields that require an encryption and encryption scheme to be used. Customers need to use Mastercard provided JWE client encryption libraries to encrypt/decrypt API payload as part of API client implementation. To understand the encryption scheme, customers need to refer to both the [API specification](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/documentation/api-reference/apis/index.md#apis) and the [Integration and Testing tutorial](https://developer.mastercard.com/unified-installments/tutorial/integration-and-testing/index.md).
