# Merchant opt out and decline scenarios

### Customer is not able to checkout successfully {#customer-is-not-able-to-checkout-successfully}

To improve unhappy or "decline" experiences for consumers, display appropriate error message that, whenever possible, include the reason the transaction failed.In the below scenarios, notify users via on-site error message, text or email from the issuers, and where possible, an alert at the time of payment in their digital wallet.

**Scenario 1: Merchant has opted out**

When the user tries to use installments at a non-participating merchant

**Scenario 2: Minimum Transaction Error**

When the users try to make a purchase which is less than the preset minimum transaction amount

**Scenario 3: Exceeds Loan Value Error**

When the user tries to make a purchase that exceeds their available credit

<br />

**Scenario 4: Second Time Loan Re-use**

When the users try to make a second purchase using one-time use card

**Scenario 5: MCC Blocked**

When the users try to make a purchase at any merchant who is blocked

**Scenario 6: Cross Border**

When the users try to make a purchase at a merchant located in a region where the installment card is not accepted
