## FAQs {#faqs}

### General {#general}

Search is a service that provides Mastercard acceptance status, Mastercard Track Business Payment Service information, and enhanced data about your customers' trading partners. Search supports your commercial payment optimization and card acceptance enablement programs, helping you tap into the full market potential for commercial payments.

### Onboarding {#onboarding}

Search users include issuers, institutions that help buyers optimize their commercial payments, and Business Payment Service agents. Ensure you have completed all the steps in the [Getting credentials](https://developer.mastercard.com/track-search/tutorial/getting-credentials/index.md) tutorial and have all the information in [step 4](https://developer.mastercard.com/track-search/tutorial/getting-credentials/step4/index.md) available. Once you have done this, follow the [Moving to production](https://developer.mastercard.com/track-search/tutorial/moving-to-production/index.md) tutorial to move your project to production. This API is available for free. The details contained in the object `bpsDetails` are only available to Business Payment Service agents. You can email your Mastercard representative to learn more about Business Payment Service. If you do not have a Mastercard representative, you can learn more [here](https://developer.mastercard.com/product/mastercard-track-business-payment-service/) or contact [track.support@mastercard.com](mailto:track.support@mastercard.com). If representing customers as buyers, use Search to search for their suppliers. If representing customers as suppliers, use Search to search for their buyers.

### Integration {#integration}

You can bulk search up to 3000 records in each API call. Follow the [tutorials](https://developer.mastercard.com/track-search/documentation/tutorials-guides/index.md) that will guide you through how to implement Search. If you already have a Mastercard Developers project for the Merchant Match Tool APIs, you can add the Search API to that existing project. You will be prompted to complete some information about your company. Once your access is approved, you will be able to use Search with the same keys and authentication. Review and correct any errors that you receive and then resubmit the request. If you continue to receive errors, then contact your Mastercard account representative or [commercial.support@mastercard.com](mailto:commercial.support@mastercard.com) for more assistance. Search's bulk request follows an asynchronous flow. Users submit a request and receive a response that the request has been received with a bulk search ID. Search will then process the request and notify users when the request has completed processing and the results are ready for retrieval. Users can check the status of their request at any point after submission using the bulk search ID. Once the request has completed processing, users can retrieve the results of the request. You should wait and request the status later. Depending on the request size, and how many files are being processed for other users, requests might take several hours to fully process. Ensure your request returns a `COMPLETED` status. If you have received a `COMPLETED` status and you did not receive a notification that the request was completed, check the Notification URL you configured for your project is correct and is configured correctly. If you require more assistance, contact your Mastercard account representative or [commercial.support@mastercard.com](mailto:commercial.support@mastercard.com). The parameter `isMatched` will be false and the objects containing the match details for example "entityDetails", "cardProcessingHistory", and "bpsDetails" will be empty. For authorized users, the full set of information is available for suppliers. At this time, searching for Buyers will return information in `bpsDetails` and the `cardProcessingHistory` object will be empty. Follow the [tutorials](https://developer.mastercard.com/track-search/documentation/tutorials-guides/index.md) section to implement Search. If you already have a Mastercard Developers project for the Merchant Match Tool APIs, you can add the Search API to that existing project. While adding the project, you will need to provide information about your company. Once your access is approved, you will be able to use the Search API with the same keys and authentication. This can happen when a supplier gets onboarded to BPS by different acquirers using different address. Search data is refreshed every two weeks. To ensure you are working with the latest information, wait for two weeks before performing a new search.

### Policy {#policy}

While there is no throttling policy, Mastercard reserves the right to limit user's requests to preserve the reliability of the system for all users.

### Performance {#performance}

The average response time per endpoint is 0.45 seconds. The Throughput per Second (TPS) per customer is 12.570 KB/s.
