## Background {#background}

This page contains the pre-release notes for the Token Requestor Identifier (TRID) API, providing early warning of intended changes and additions to the APIs. The release notes will be made available after the updates have been released to Mastercard Test Facility (MTF).

The latest API version is documented on Mastercard Developers, which provides the definitive specification, and is updated in tandem with the MDES platform update releases.

* If an MDES Platform release impacts Token Requestor Identifier (TRID) API, pre-release notes will be published according to the MDES release calendar. Each document provides up-to-date details of the changes expected, and should be considered accurate at the point of publication.
* If an MDES Platform release doesn't impact Token Requestor Identifier (TRID) API, no pre-release notes will be published for that release.

Note: The Token Requestor Identifier (TRID) API is enhanced in an agile manner and is updated regularly with the MDES Platform Updates. Every effort is made to retain backwards-compatibility as changes occur. To ensure forward-compatibility, all API client integrations must be resilient to the addition of new elements being added to requests and responses. Existing implementations should strive to keep updated to the latest API version available with each new MDES Platform Update Release.
