# Transfer points

### User is in their rewards site and can transfer points {#user-is-in-their-rewards-site-and-can-transfer-points}

The user is in their rewards site and while in an account, has the option to transfer points to another account. This can only be done between the user's own accounts.

If a rewards program is set up so that points accumulate separately on each card, transferring points allows users to consolidate points so that they have more points and can make larger redemptions. This API is not needed if points accumulate at the user level, and all points earned in their accounts/across their credit cards are pooled together.
