# Manage Commercial Countries
source: https://developer.mastercard.com/platform/documentation/managing-your-project/commercial-country-management/index.md

Commercial countries define where you are doing business for your API integration. Providing commercial countries is one of the prerequisite tasks, listed on the *Project Summary* page, that must be completed before you can request Production access.

For Open Finance projects, you are required to select a region, when you are creating your project, which will act as your commercial country. For all other APIs, commercial countries are collected after your project has been created.
Tip: If you are creating a project on-behalf of a client, the Commercial countries represent where your client is doing business.
