# Creditor Pre-registration
source: https://developer.mastercard.com/payment-acceptance-api/documentation/use-cases/creditor-preregisteration/index.md

This use case covers how an acquiring Customer Service Provider (CSP) can pre-register a Creditor under a Creditor Agent in Commercial Direct Payments (CDP), how the Creditor Agent activates the Creditor and payment profile, and how gateway registration can be performed during onboarding when gateway registration details are provided.

## CSP pre-registering a Creditor under an agent {#csp-pre-registering-a-creditor-under-an-agent}

This diagram illustrates the main steps in the Creditor registration process when an acquiring CSP initiates the pre-registration under a Creditor Agent.
Diagram newregistrationflowcsp

1. The acquiring CSP sends a request to the CDP to pre-register a Creditor under a specified Creditor Agent.
   API Reference: `POST /creditor-agents/{ica}/creditors`

2. CDP pre-registers the Creditor under the specified Creditor Agent and sets the status to inactive.
3. CDP notifies the Creditor Agent of the pre-registered Creditor.
4. The Creditor Agent performs Know Your Business (KYB) and Know Your Customer (KYC) validation for the Creditor and activates the Creditor upon successful onboarding.
5. CDP notifies the acquiring CSP when the Creditor is activated.
6. The Creditor Agent activates the Cretior payment profile for the activated Creditor.
7. CDP notifies the acquiring CSP when the Creditor payment profile is activated.

## Automated Creditor Onboarding to Mastercard Gateway {#automated-creditor-onboarding-to-mastercard-gateway}

This diagram illustrates the onboarding workflow when CDP performs Mastercard Gateway registration during Creditor onboarding.
Note: Mastercard Gateway registration is applicable only when Gateway registration details are included in the creditor pre-registration request. If Gateway registration is not provided, CDP will follow the standard CSP pre-registration onboarding process. Diagram newregistrationflowmpgs
