### The solution: What is Pay with Rewards? {#the-solution-what-is-pay-with-rewards}

Pay with Rewards is an innovative solution that gives Mastercard cardholders the freedom to redeem rewards points at millions of eligible locations worldwide, either in store, online or when traveling without interrupting the payment flow. Your cardholders have the flexibility to redeem for nearly anything, anywhere, anytime which is why the tagline is "Your Points. Your Way."

The program helps you drive spend and engagement by allowing cardholders to spend points on any purchase they wish and cardholders have the flexibility to redeem automatically when making purchases, or after the purchase. There are two ways to redeem:

* Pre-purchase when cardholders turn it on in advance
* Post-purchase when they select a prior purchase and redeem points for a statement credit

Pay With Rewards leverages the global reach of the Mastercard Network and allows rewards points redemption in real time without modifications to merchant POS technology. This seamless, card-linked solution helps you streamline redemption with minimal IT involvement or upkeep.

### The key user persona {#the-key-user-persona}

Based on our research, we created a persona to help us shape our designs and highlight the demographics of a key user.

<br />

**Meet Minka** , she is 26. She lives in the United States and is a Pay with Rewards user through her banking app.

<br />

**Behaviors:** Minka is a reward-driven consumer, a brand loyalist, and a value-seeker who enjoys tracking her rewards and seeks to maximize their value through strategic spending and redemption. She uses her Mastercard Pay with Rewards **enabled** credit card for everyday purchases to maximize its rewards earning potential and pays off her balance in full to avoid interest charges.

<br />

**Desires:** She wants her rewards program to offer easy sign up, be simple to use, and allow her to use points when she wants and however she wants with no black out dates.

<br />

**Pain points:** Minka does not want a limited catalog of redemption options. She wants to redeem points like cash as offered by Pay with Rewards.
