# Configuring Consent Email Notifications

Under CDR regulation, you must obtain a [consent](https://developer.mastercard.com/open-finance-au/documentation/consent/index.md) from a consumer (also known as a customer within Mastercard Open Finance) before requesting access to their financial data.
Moreover, the regulator requires an Accredited Data Recipient (ADR) to inform the customer every time when their financial data sharing starts and stops, as well as remind them about ongoing data sharing (see [Notifications for consumers](https://www.oaic.gov.au/consumer-data-right/consumer-data-right-guidance-for-business/consumer-data-right-privacy-safeguard-guidelines/chapter-c-consent-the-basis-for-collecting-and-using-cdr-data)).
Note: Although Mastercard Open Finance generally manages these email notifications, clients with particular requirements may be permitted to send notifications themselves under some [access models](https://developer.mastercard.com/open-finance-au/documentation/access-and-config/access-models/index.md). Please contact your Mastercard representative for further details. Warning: To allow Mastercard sending the emails of your behalf, a manager of the DNS records for the sending domain on your side has to add `include: deliverygateways.mastercard.com` to the proper DNS SPF record. There will be issues with email delivery if the correct DNS entries are not added.
