## FAQs {#faqs}

The Mastercard Merchant Match Tool (MMT) is a system that assists organizations by providing valuable data about Suppliers with whom they wish to do business. MMT matches a Supplier's level of acceptance against the Mastercard database of Suppliers that accept Mastercard. If there is a match based on the submitted list, the MCC, level of data acceptance, transaction recency data will be identified. MMT is also useful during expansion or optimization campaigns with existing customers that are trying to expand the use of their commercial card program. MMT can help analyze the card acceptance capabilities of Suppliers currently being paid by check, ACH and WIRE. The turnaround time depends on number of queries submitted in each file, number of files submitted in a day and normal business conditions. Yes, each query that finds a match will be assigned a confidence level of High, Medium, or Low. While the Mastercard Merchant Match Tool considers many variables while providing the match, the High, Medium, or Low rating can broadly be interpreted as follows:

* High: Matched queries with high to near exact degree of similarity across multiple matching fields
* Medium: Matched queries with high name similarity scores but inconsistent or incomplete address matching
* Low: Matched queries with medium name similarity score and matching against few address fields, if any.
Check across all the submitted fields and compare them to the resulting match fields. Certain fields and certain combination of fields result in a match with a higher level of confidence than others, even while the remaining fields may have differing information. For example, if the match results are not obvious and do not match the exact Supplier entity that was submitted, the match provided may qualify in terms of a parent-subsidiary relationship, different office location of the company, registered operating entity, and so on. Yes, however, as the Mastercard Merchant Match Tool tries to get as reliable and accurate a match as possible, certain cases might not be reported. If it is possible, providing more information that has better quality input data can result in additional match results. Name, State (for countries where the concept of State or Province exists, such as USA, Canada and Australia) and Country Street Address, City, Postal Code, Phone Number and other User Defined Fields are optional fields. When a mandatory field is empty, a rejection error occurs at the time of submission and requires the user to resubmit the files. Mastercard Merchant Match Tool uses the fields submitted by the user to find a matching Supplier within the Mastercard database. It is a best practice to submit as much data about each Supplier as possible to avoid false matches or lost matches.
