### 1. Merchant Identifier version 2 deprecated {#1-merchant-identifier-version-2-deprecated}

Version 2 of the Merchant Identifier specification has been deprecated. If you have already integrated with version 2, please make every effort to switch to the latest Merchant Identifier API specification [here](https://developer.mastercard.com/merchant-identifier/documentation/api-reference/index.md).

### 2. Merchant identification by Card Acceptor Id {#2-merchant-identification-by-card-acceptor-id}

In this API update, we have added a new end point to the Merchant Identifier API. A client can now leverage card acceptor id (also known as Acquirer Merchant Id or DE42) as the input into the API to map a transaction to the relevant merchant.

### 3. Merchant identification by Tax Id {#3-merchant-identification-by-tax-id}

In this API update, we have added a new end point to the Merchant Identifier API. A client can now leverage tax id and country code as the input into the API to map to the relevant merchant.

### 4. Merchant identifier Endpoints Update {#4-merchant-identifier-endpoints-update}

We have enhanced the **Merchants by Merchant Identifier** and **Merchants by Card Acceptor ID** API endpoints to include two new attributes in the response: **isBrickAndMortar** and **isEcommerce** . For detailed information about these attributes, please refer to the [API reference page](https://developer.mastercard.com/merchant-identifier/documentation/api-reference/index.md) and [release history](https://developer.mastercard.com/merchant-identifier/documentation/release-history/index.md).
