# Generate MPQR Sandbox Credentials
source: https://developer.mastercard.com/mastercard-merchant-presented-qr/documentation/server-apis/reference-app/generate-sandbox-credentials/index.md

Before configuring your local server environment, you must generate your Sandbox credentials that your server will use to communicate with Mastercard and the MPQR APIs.

Quick steps to setting up the sandbox account and downloading the keys:

1. [Create an account on Mastercard Developers](https://developer.mastercard.com/account/sign-up).

All that is required is a username, valid email address, and password. After registering, an email is sent to your email address that contains a verification link. You must click the link to activate your account.

2. Log in using your email address and password.

As long as you've verified your email address, as mentioned in Step 1, you should have no problems here. If you do have issues, attempt to reset your password. If you're still having problems, [contact us for support](https://developer.mastercard.com/support).

3. Create a project with the **Mastercard Merchant Presented QR** API, see [Set Up the Project and Sandbox Keys](https://developer.mastercard.com/mastercard-merchant-presented-qr/documentation/server-apis/getting-started/index.md#set-up-the-project-and-sandbox-keys).
