Definitions of the terms and data concepts used across the Location Services API documentation, request payloads, and responses.

### Core terms {#core-terms}

| **Location Services API**         | Mastercard API that provides access to enriched location data for merchants and consumer service locations.      |
| **Merchant Location**             | A physical business location that can be returned by the Location Services API.                                  |
| **Point of Interest (POI)**       | A location or business entity that can be enriched with additional merchant and payment program data.            |
| **Enriched Location Data**        | Location information supplemented with additional merchant attributes and payment program participation details. |
| **Merchant Discovery**            | The process of locating merchants based on geographic or search criteria.                                        |
| **GeoCode Search**                | A search that uses latitude and longitude coordinates to find nearby merchant locations.                         |
| **Address Search**                | A search that uses a physical address to identify nearby merchant locations.                                     |
| **Merchant Name Search**          | A search that returns merchant names matching a full or partial merchant name.                                   |
| **Merchant Category Code (MCC)**  | A four-digit code used to classify merchants by business type.                                                   |
| **Merchant Category**             | The readable description associated with a Merchant Category Code (MCC).                                         |
| **PAYPASS**                       | Mastercard contactless payment acceptance program used as a merchant classification within Location Services.    |
| **EASYSAVINGS**                   | Mastercard merchant rewards and savings program used as a merchant classification within Location Services.      |
| **CASHBACK**                      | Merchant program indicating cashback availability at supported merchant locations.                               |
| **Country Code**                  | A standardized code identifying a supported country.                                                             |
| **Country Subdivision**           | A state, province, territory, or administrative region within a country.                                         |
| **Customer Feedback**             | Information submitted by customers to report data inaccuracies or merchant-related issues.                       |
| **Location Data Quality**         | The accuracy, completeness, and reliability of merchant location information.                                    |
| **API Reference**                 | The OpenAPI specification and endpoint documentation for the Location Services API.                              |
| **Consumer Services Location**    | A merchant or service location included within Mastercard's Location Services dataset.                           |
| **Payment Program Participation** | Information indicating whether a merchant participates in programs such as PAYPASS, EASYSAVINGS, or CASHBACK.    |
