source: https://developer.mastercard.com/issuer-enrollment/documentation/tutorials-and-guides/issuer-onboarding-click2pay-tutorial/index.md

Follow the steps and onboard with Mastercard Click to Pay.

### Prerequisites {#prerequisites}

* Issuers need to implement requirements and best practices for the Mastercard Click to Pay Program. Refer to the **Issuer Requirements** section in [Mastercard Click to Pay Program Requirements](https://techdocs.mastercard.com/bundle/m_CPAES/page/agw1732540734327.html). Ensure you are logged into [Mastercard Connect](https://www.mastercardconnect.com/-/sign-in) to access the document.
* Issuers must enroll in [Mastercard Digital Enablement (MDES)](https://developer.mastercard.com/product/mdes/#financial-institutions) to activate payment cards to receive token requests from Mastercard Click to Pay.
* Issuers must onboard to Mastercard Click to Pay through the Onboarding and Registration Portal using [Mastercard Connect](https://www.mastercardconnect.com/-/sign-in) to obtain API keys.

## 1. Sign Up - Get Access to Mastercard Connect {#1-sign-up---get-access-to-mastercard-connect}

Issuers must be enrolled in [Mastercard Digital Enablement (MDES)](https://developer.mastercard.com/product/mdes/#financial-institutions) to activate cards to receive token requests from Mastercard Click to Pay.

To onboard as an Issuer, you need an account on [Mastercard Connect](https://www.mastercardconnect.com). Each user who needs access within your company should request access. The welcome screen on Mastercard Connect provides a link to the [Connect Sign Up Guide](https://www.mastercardconnect.com/business/public/content/dam/b2b/mcc/guides/Mastercard%20Connect%20Sign%20Up%20Guide.pdf) with full instructions detailing the sign-up process.

* The first time you sign in, you will be asked to reset your temporary password.

* If your organization already has accounts on Mastercard Connect, a member of your staff will have been nominated as your **Security Administrator**. This user is responsible for approving requests from other users in your organization. Your request for access to the Mastercard Checkout Solutions - Sandbox application will need to be approved by this person.

* If your organization is new to Mastercard Connect, you need to set up a **Security Administrator** account to approve requests on behalf of other users.

Tip: Contact your [Mastercard representative](https://developer.mastercard.com/issuer-enrollment/documentation/support/index.md#get-help) if you need help identifying your Security Administrator or signing up for Mastercard Connect.

Each user should create a User ID, set up a suitable password and provide two security questions and answers. Users also need to provide the Customer ID (CID) and Interbank Card Association (ICA) number, which can be obtained from the **My Company Manager** application in MC Connect.

## 2. Order the Application for Sandbox from the Store {#2-order-the-application-for-sandbox-from-the-store}

Log in to [Mastercard Connect](https://www.mastercardconnect.com), go to the **Store** tab and search for the application **"Mastercard Checkout Solutions - Sandbox"**.

![Remote Commerce Onboarding](https://static.developer.mastercard.com/content/issuer-enrollment/img/order_app_mtf_1.png)

Locate the Sandbox version of the application, and click the **Request Access** button. You are presented with an Order Confirmation. You should then notify your company's Mastercard Connect Security Administrator and request that they approve access.

From the Order Confirmation, you can either print the order (for your records) or click **Track status** to view its progress. The application will appear on the **My Items** tab with an **Access pending** status label.
Note: After registering for [Mastercard Digital Enablement Service (MDES)](https://techdocs.mastercard.com/bundle/m_MIIG/page/c_MIIG_IssuerEnablementActivities.html), and creating an account for [Mastercard Connect](https://www.mastercardconnect.com), ensure to always use the Sandbox environment to test the Enroll API, and before requesting access to Production.

**The Onboarding and Registration application will look like this:**

Tip: At the top of the screen, there is a note mentioning the version of the application you are using.

## 3. Add Email Address to Receive Notifications {#3-add-email-address-to-receive-notifications}

You can sign up to receive email notifications about all company-level activities using the **Manage Notifications** button. Mastercard will email you regarding program enrollment in Sandbox and production as well as updates to the program settings made by users or Mastercard administrators.

On the **Program Management** tab, click the **Manage notifications** button.

![Add or update email address](https://static.developer.mastercard.com/content/issuer-enrollment/img/add-email-address.png)

You can add additional email addresses or edit the existing ones at any time.

If you do not add an email address, the first time you enroll in a program you will be asked to provide an email address.

## 4. Enroll Programs {#4-enroll-programs}

Access the application from the **My Items** tab on Mastercard Connect.

The Program Management tab displays the programs available for your enrollment.

Mastercard Checkout Solutions supports multiple program types of enrollment, depending on the use-case or program that you're enrolling into. Each program type has different requirements, some require customer input, while others do not. For the program you are enrolling in, click **Enroll** to initiate testing the program integration in Sandbox on the **Program Management** tab.

Issuers only need to enroll in the Click to Pay program. There is no enrollment form for this program. Ignore all other programs as they are merchant specific.

Program enrollment requests for the Sandbox environment are immediately approved. The program management status will change to Enrolled and you can create projects in Sandbox for testing your integration.

## 5. Create a Project in the Sandbox {#5-create-a-project-in-the-sandbox}

On the **Projects** tab, click **Create project** . Fill out the form and read the necessary requirements to create your first project. You can create a project only after enrolling for a specific program on the **Program Management** tab.

You can create Sandbox projects with the corresponding attributes (SRC Client ID, support emails, keys) to perform testing across various environments. For example, you may have one or more environments for integration and testing.
Warning: Your attributes (SRC Client ID, support emails, keys) cannot be shared across Sandbox projects or production environments. Note: You can create different Sandbox projects with distinct attributes (SRC Client ID, support emails, keys) for each Sandbox project. The default maximum number is 10. Reach out to your Mastercard Representative if you would like to increase this number.

#### Information Required to Create a Sandbox Project {#information-required-to-create-a-sandbox-project}

To create a Sandbox project, the following information is required:

* **Select the program** --- Select the Click to Pay program.

The available Programs for each project are displayed on the **Program Management** tab.

#### Project Dashboard {#project-dashboard}

Once you've created a project, the Dashboard looks like this.
Alert: Issuers do not need DPA management. DPA references can be ignored.

![Project Dashboard](https://static.developer.mastercard.com/content/issuer-enrollment/documentation/img/issuer_onboarding_sandbox1.png)
Tip: Make a note of your `srcClientId`. You will need to pass it to Mastercard's Customer Integration Services (CIS) Team before starting the integration and you will also need to pass it in the API request.

## 6. Manage Keys {#6-manage-keys}

Create new API Signing Key; you will need this to call the APIs.
You can start testing the APIs using the predefined keys for Sandbox. This will also show the expiry date of all your keys.
Note: When first created, keys will typically have a lifetime of one year.

For more information refer to [Key Management](https://developer.mastercard.com/issuer-enrollment/documentation/tutorials-and-guides/key-management-click2pay-tutorial/index.md).

## 7. Test your Project and Integration in Sandbox {#7-test-your-project-and-integration-in-sandbox}

Once you set up all necessary information for your integration, test your project in the Sandbox environment.

Note: Once the onboarding is completed, you must work with your Mastercard Representative to generate the necessary IDs - which will be required in the API calls.
