# Get Transaction Status

The Get Transaction Status API retrieves the transaction status using the complaint's tracking number.

## Prerequisites {#prerequisites}

The issuer needs the following parameter:

* Complaint tracking number

### Execution Steps {#execution-steps}

1. The issuer sends the tracking number in request.
2. For invalid tracking number, IODR sends error message to the issuer.
3. For valid tracking number, IODR sends transaction status in the response to the issuer.
4. IODR returns a "record not found" error when a tracking number has no associated complaint.
