# Rate Publication Status Tutorial
source: https://developer.mastercard.com/enhanced-currency-conversion-calculator/documentation/tutorials-and-guides/rate-publication-status-tutorial/index.md

This tutorial walks through a full request and response for `GET /rate-statuses`, the endpoint that tells you whether Mastercard's and the ECB's conversion rates have been published for a given date.

|     Header      |                                                                                     Value                                                                                      |
|-----------------|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| `Authorization` | Your OAuth 1.0a signature --- see [Authentication](https://developer.mastercard.com/enhanced-currency-conversion-calculator/documentation/api-basics/index.md#authentication). |
| `Accept`        | `application/json`                                                                                                                                                             |

## Query Parameters {#query-parameters}

|   Parameter    | Required |         Type          |                                 Description                                 |
|----------------|----------|-----------------------|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| `request_date` | No | String (`yyyy-MM-dd`) | Date to check rate publication for. Defaults to the current day if omitted. |

## Example Request {#example-request}

* Request

```Request
GET /rate-statuses?request_date=2023-02-27
```

## Example Response {#example-response}

* JSON

```JSON
{
  "name": "mastercard-and-ecb-rate-status-service",
  "description": "Determine if mastercard and ecb conversion rates are issued for the given date",
  "requestDate": "2023-02-27",
  "data": {
    "rateDate": "2023-02-27",
    "mastercardRateIssued": {
      "status": "yes"
    },
    "ecbRateIssued": {
      "status": "yes"
    }
  }
}
```

If either rate has not yet been published for the requested date, its `status` is `no`, and its `message`/`reasonCode` fields explain why (for example, the date falls on a weekend or holiday).

## How This Relates to Other Endpoints {#how-this-relates-to-other-endpoints}

Use this endpoint before calling `GET /summary-rates` for the current day, to avoid handling a `403`/`404` response purely to discover that today's rates aren't published yet --- see the [Currency Conversion Summary Tutorial](https://developer.mastercard.com/enhanced-currency-conversion-calculator/documentation/tutorials-and-guides/currency-conversion-summary-tutorial/index.md).

This endpoint does not require payload encryption --- it is a `GET` request with no request body.

For error handling, see [Code and Formats](https://developer.mastercard.com/enhanced-currency-conversion-calculator/documentation/code-and-formats/index.md#conversion-rate-issued-get-rate-statuses).
