# Getting Started

## Before You Start {#before-you-start}

To start using the Doconomy Aland Index API, you must first create a project and then add it. Once created, you have access to the Sandbox environment to test authentication and validate your connectivity. You can test the API in the Sandbox environment using the data of your choice before moving to Production. Refer to the [Quick Start Guide](https://developer.mastercard.com/doconomy-aland-index/documentation/quick-start-guide/index.md) for more details.

Once you are ready to go live, contact your Mastercard representative, and request your Production access. A contractual agreement needs to be signed before your Production access is approved and you can access the API.
If you don't have a Mastercard representative, reach out to [sales@doconomy.com](mailto:sales@doconomy.com) for further help.

## Good to Know {#good-to-know}

We have created a [reference application](https://developer.mastercard.com/doconomy-aland-index/documentation/reference-app/index.md) to get you started. However, if you want to build your application, refer to the [build an end-to-end application](https://developer.mastercard.com/doconomy-aland-index/tutorial/api-testing/step5/index.md) tutorial.

## Next Steps: {#next-steps}

Now that you have an understanding of Before You Start and Good to Know, proceed to the [API Basics](https://developer.mastercard.com/doconomy-aland-index/documentation/api-basics/index.md) section for details on protocols and authentication.
