Use the [Address Validation API](https://developer.mastercard.com/cross-border-services/documentation/api-ref/value-added-services/address-validation-api/index.md) when you need to check that the Recipient address follows the conventions for the relevant country before submitting the Payment.

**Preconditions**

* The destination country has been activated for address validation.
* You have collected the Recipient address.
* You have opted in to the Address Validation Service.

**Workflow**

1. The Customer collects the Recipient address and submits it to the [Address Validation API](https://developer.mastercard.com/cross-border-services/documentation/api-ref/value-added-services/address-validation-api/index.md).
2. The Address Validation API checks the address against the relevant country conventions.
3. The API returns either the country-specific address structure when the address is valid, or an error when the address is invalid or cannot be validated. Use the response to identify information that may need to be corrected or completed before submitting the Payment.

**Endpoint**

API Reference: `POST /send/address-validation-service/addresses/validations`

Note: Address validation does not submit the Payment. After reviewing the response, continue with the Payment flow that applies to your scenario.
