# Consumer Credit Analytics
source: https://developer.mastercard.com/consumer-credit-analytics/documentation/index.md

## Overview {#overview}

The Consumer Credit Analytics (CCA) service gives lenders near real-time access to Mastercard transaction-based credit scores and metrics. It generates a credit delinquency score and risk metrics for consumers by leveraging their Mastercard debit and credit transaction data.

Lenders are increasingly turning to alternative data sources to gain a clear picture of the true creditworthiness of a consumer in addition to their credit bureau reports. The Consumer Credit Analytics APIs allow financial institutions to keep a check on the credit footprint of a consumer by providing analytical data to assess their credit risk.

Lenders can leverage the consumer credit score to inform underwriting decisions for new loan applicants and monitor the performance of existing borrowers. They pay only for what they use, which helps them to manage costs based on API calls, reflecting each customer.

## How it Works {#how-it-works}

Consumer Credit Analytics (CCA) enhances the ability of a lender to predict loan performance of consumers with custom credit scores and metrics generated near real-time for credit delinquency and other use cases.

Mastercard has a rich dataset of transaction data for Mastercard issued cards. These transactions are then processed by Mastercard proprietary engine to produce card-level metrics like industry, geography, channel, authorization, account activity along with use of consumer delinquency history to calculate credit delinquency scores.

Lenders can request a delinquency score and credit risk metrics through our API for an individual cardholder who has provided consent to the lender for the use of transaction data for assessing creditworthiness.
