### A guide to the key touchpoints that shape the subscription management experience. {#a-guide-to-the-key-touchpoints-that-shape-the-subscription-management-experience}

Subscription management does not live in a single screen. It spans multiple moments across the app where users first notice controls, return to manage subscriptions, receive updates, or complete actions. These are not prescriptive rules. They are decision-making lenses that help teams balance discoverability, efficiency, and user value across the entire subscription journey.

### Why this matters {#why-this-matters}

Most users rarely cancel subscriptions but regularly check their spending and upcoming charges, meaning visibility drives engagement. Deciding where subscriptions live is as much about helping users stay informed as it is about encouraging return visits and trust.
Note: Even if users do not take action frequently, viewing insights builds familiarity and trust---key for ROI. Over time, these habits keep your app top-of-wallet and essential to their daily money management.

## Principles {#principles}

#### Meet users where they already are {#meet-users-where-they-already-are}

Integrate Smart Subscriptions into familiar high-traffic areas to make management effortless and efficient.

#### Drive engagement through visibility {#drive-engagement-through-visibility}

The more visible subscriptions are, the more likely users are to return. Multiple entry points turn awareness into habit.

#### Discovery {#discovery}

This covers visibility of controls inside transaction lists, placement in Transaction Details, onboarding moments, and other high-intent surfaces. It answers:

* Where should Smart Subscriptions show up?
* How visible should they be?
* How do we build familiarity from day one?

#### Re-engagement {#re-engagement}

This covers establishing a central location where users can view, compare, and manage all subscriptions. It answers:

* Where do users go when they want to manage subscriptions?
* How deep should the experience be?
* How do we support repeat visits and long-term use?

#### Design paths for integration {#design-paths-for-integration}

This section outlines the "good, better, best" options --- from lightweight controls inside Transaction Details to a full subscription hub. It answers:

* How much effort do we want to invest?
* What might MVPs look like?
* How do we scale over time?

#### Notifications and messaging {#notifications-and-messaging}

This covers confirmation moments, pending states, action-required prompts, and return-path messaging. It answers:

* What should users know after they take an action?
* When do we notify versus keep the update in-app?
* How do we avoid confusion without adding friction?
