## Overview {#overview}

Consumer Clarity in Clearing shows you ways that you can use the enhanced merchant information and digital receipt data that's delivered to you through Mastercard's Dual Message Clearing System.

Mastercard's Dual Message Clearing System is the mechanism through which the cleared data is delivered. After a Mastercard transaction is authorized, the transaction proceeds to clearing, where the financial message that settles the transaction is transmitted. Inside these clearing messages, specifically the First Presentment/1240 message type, Mastercard embeds the following PDS elements:

* PDS 0032 -- Enhanced Acceptor Name
* PDS 0033 -- Merchant geolocation (latitude, longitude, proximity type)
* PDS 0034 -- Acceptor Logo URL
* PDS 0035 -- Digital Receipts URL

You can use the data in these elements to present cleaned merchant information and digital receipts to your cardholders through your banking app. Clearing is the transport mechanism that delivers the enriched data, and the Consumer Clarity API acts as security to ensure that only authenticated users can view the detailed digital receipt.

This section provides guidance in the following topics for how you can use and manage your clearing data through Consumer Clarity.
