## Betalingsservice Overview {#betalingsservice-overview}

Betalingsservice is a direct debit (DD) payment service for creditors, including companies, organizations, and associations, to help with timely and automatic collection of payments from customers. It is intended for periodic and recurrent payments from debtors and gives the payee (debtor) an overview of all recurring bills through a common monthly prenotification, with digital access for Netbanks, mobile banks, and BS app.

## Benefits {#benefits}

Using the Betalingsservice offers the following benefits:

* Enables automation of recurring payments for both creditors and debtors
* Provides a more predictable cash flow for payees or creditors
* Ensures that payments happen on the respective due dates
* Allows for a longer payer or debtor lifetime
* Ensures fewer calls to the customer service on payments
* Lowers the level of loss on payers or debtors
* Reduces the number of late payments
* Offers a bank payment guarantee of DKK 1.000 per payment

## Betalingsservice Creditor API {#betalingsservice-creditor-api}

The Betalingsservice (BS) Creditor API allows the creditors to integrate with Mastercard to manage operations related to the mandates or BS agreement. After collecting payee information and consent from the payer, the BS Creditor API allows payees or creditors to create mandates with payers or debtors without using the standard Betalingsservice file format. The API allows for easier and quicker onboarding to Betalingsservice when purchasing goods or services through a web site, call center, or face-to-face.

## How It Works {#how-it-works}

The BS Creditor API is designed to help creditors manage the following operations:

* Create a mandate
* Search for a mandate

Here is a high-level overview of the process:

1. The debtor and creditor enter into a commercial agreement.
2. The debtor shares authentication information with the creditor.
3. The creditor secures and stores the debtor authentication details.
4. The creditor submits a mandate to Betalingsservice for processing.
5. If needed, the creditor requests Betalingsservice for mandate status.
6. Betalingsservice provides mandate status to the creditor.
7. Betalingsservice sends the mandate to the debtor's bank for approval.
8. The debtor's bank approves the mandate and shares the approved mandate with Betalingsservice.
