# Enhance card features with our new APIs that add loyalty and card controls source: https://developer.mastercard.com/blog/new-apis-mar-2023/index.md Authors: Hyunjoe Yoo. In March, Mastercard Developers has launched five new APIs that allow you to enhance the credit, debit and pre-paid card features you make available to your customers. These APIs focus on providing better security and card control features for any physical or digital card you issue to your customers as well as enhance the loyalty and rewards offerings linked to those cards. Mastercard Integrated Processing - Issuance We'll start with the Mastercard Integrated Processing - Issuance product. This suite of APIs allows you to instantly issue physical and digital prepaid, debit and credit cards to your customers and enable a digital and secure payment experience. The three new APIs that we've added provide your customers with greater security and control over their card. This next diagram will show how these APIs can work together to instantly provision a card, allow your customer to control how their card is used, protect certain features with a PIN and finally complete a secure payment: Let's take a quick look at each of the new APIs added to the Mastercard Integrated Processing - Issuing API product. The Authorization Management API improves card security by allowing the cardholder to use a PIN to protect transactions such as loading funds in prepaid cards, balance inquiry, retrieving transaction history and obviously, resetting the card PIN. The API returns a one-time unique authentication token after successful authentication, which should be used within 3 minutes to call the next API that requires the verification. For example, the authentication token generated by this API could be used to call the Update Card PIN API. The next API added gives your customer great control over how and when their card gets used. The Consumer Controls - Virtual Card Numbers API provides features to activate a card or block/unblock a card instantly as requested by the cardholder. It is also used to disable a lost, damaged, stolen, or expired card and can be used to re-enable a card in case the lost card is found. To make it easier to manage card activities and customer profiles after card issuance we have added the Card Management API. It allows the issuing institution to find client and card details, view card credentials, update client and card information, and manage card PIN. Start with the list of use cases this API supports. Loyalty Management On top of providing secure card control features to customers we also provide a suite of APIs called Loyalty Management that deliver valuable insights into a rewards program such as real-time point balance, transaction details (such as points earned), the ability to enroll and update consumer profiles, and request replacement of a lost/stolen card. The Loyalty Platform has been enhanced with two new APIs. The first is the Transaction Service API which allows you and your customers to get a snapshot of their transaction history. Customers are less likely to contact customer service with queries when they can see details about the rewards they have redeemed, and you can use the historic data to personalize the customer experience. We have created a Reference Application to get you started. Finally, we have added the User Account Management API, which allows you to manage all user account enrollment details for a rewards program as well as handle lost/stolen cards and manage all card-linked services. This API speeds upadministration of a rewards program by eliminating the use of manual file processes. The following diagram highlights the capabilitues of the User Account Management API. To get started with this API, take a look at the use cases that this API supports here.
