# Adding or deleting a bill
source: https://developer.mastercard.com/bill-pay-experience-design-guide/documentation/design/adding-or-deleting-a-bill/index.md

From the dashboard or main screen, adding another bill is simple and easy. For the account holder, the journey itself is exactly the same as adding a bill for the first time. The term "bill" in Bill Pay references a bill the account holder has with a service provider or merchant. (i.e., The monthly electricity bill paid that is due each billing period.)

Once a bill exists in Bill Pay, it doesn't leave the bills screen --- it only changes status. This allows account holders to see the status of bills in their respective billing periods at quick glance and sort bills to their liking. Once a bill is paid, it is recorded in the "Bill history" tab. If an account holder no longer wants to pay a bill using Bill Pay, they simply delete the bill from the respective bill preferences screen.
