# Getting set up on Insomnia

## Setup {#setup}

### Install Insomnia {#install-insomnia}

* Download the [Insomnia](https://insomnia.rest/download) application for your operating system (version v11.2.0 or higher).
* Install and launch the latest version of the application. **Do not sign up**; instead, use the local scratch pad as shown below.

### Install the Mastercard Plugin for Insomnia {#install-the-mastercard-plugin-for-insomnia}

1. Go to the plugin's [releases page](https://github.com/Mastercard/insomnia-plugin-mastercard/releases), scroll down, and manually download the latest availabale version `insomnia-plugin-mastercard-x.x.x.zip` file.

2. Verify that the downloaded file matches the file size mentioned on the website.

3. Open the Insomnia application, navigate to **Applications → Preferences → Plugins** , and click on the **Reveal Plugin folder** at the bottom of the page. This will open the Plugin folder.

4. Extract the contents of the downloaded `.zip` file and locate the extracted folder.

5. Copy the `insomnia-plugin-mastercard` folder and paste it into the Plugins folder.

6. Once the plugin is installed, click the **Reload** button to complete the setup.
